Air Source Heat Pumps need regular servicing too.
One of the most disappointing calls we receive is from homeowners asking us to service or repair an Air Source Heat Pump that was installed three or four years ago and has never been serviced since installation.
When we ask when the last annual service was carried out, the answer is sometimes, “We didn’t know it needed one.”
In some cases, the original installer is no longer trading or has never followed up with the customer after the installation.
An Air Source Heat Pump is a significant investment. It needs regular maintenance, system checks and professional support to help it operate efficiently and reliably and to help protect the manufacturer’s warranty where servicing is required.
There is also an important lesson when choosing an installer. The cheapest quotation is not always the cheapest option in the long term.
A good installation should not finish on the day the system is commissioned. Aftercare, annual servicing, technical support and having someone available when something goes wrong are all part of the real value.
Unfortunately, when maintenance is forgotten for several years, small issues can become expensive repairs and the homeowner may discover too late that the system is no longer covered by warranty.
A heat pump should be looked after as a long term investment, not simply installed and forgotten.
